We would be honored to help you plan your next special event at Pottawattomie Country Club. The club regularly hosts golf tournaments and wedding receptions, as well as business, social, and civic meetings. Please call the clubhouse at 219-872-8624 or e-mail [email protected].

Pottawattomie Country Club is located in Michigan City, Indiana.

Guests of Members are welcome to use the club’s facilities including the clubhouse, pool, locker rooms and course. Please note, however, that Members are totally responsible for their guests at all times.

Lunch and Dinner reservations are strongly recommended for all parties over six people. For reservations, please call the Club at 219-872-8624. Dining facilities are only open to members and their guests.

Pottawattomie Country Club offers its Members - young and older alike - a special place where family and friends can relax and have fun in a warm, comfortable atmosphere. The many amenities offer a wide variety of dining and entertainment options for Members and guests, away from the stresses of day-to-day life. 

From the all-new clubhouse to the fabulous swimming pool and challenging 18-hole golf course and driving range, you’ll never find a shortage of activities at the Club. But Pottawattomie is not just a sports club!

Its vibrant membership of young families, executives, and community leaders share lifelong memories of friendship, fun, and leisure in our comfortable cocktail lounge and dining rooms. Pottawattomie has regularly scheduled social events for the entire family, including dances, theme parties, bridge, wine tastings, specialty dinners, weekly family night dinners, cocktail parties, and celebrations year-round! Tuesday-Friday: 7:30am - 7:00pm, with tee times beginning at 8:00am.

Saturdays, Sundays & Holidays: 7:00am-7:00pm, with tee times beginning at 7:30am.

Practice range closes at 5:30pm on Sundays.

Range balls are available when the pro shop opens.

The club was established in 1909 as a 9-hole golf course by Norton Barker, a relative of local philanthropist and a founding father of the rail car industry, John H. Barker. The course was expanded to 18 holes in 1966 under the supervision of Dr. William Hall, Jr. and Robert Simmons.

The club is named for an Indian Tribe, originally known as Potawatanubñk or Potawaganiñ (i. e. “People of the place of the fire”) who migrated to the Great Lakes area in the 1600’s from the Eastern US. By the beginning of the 19th century, the Pottawattomie were in possession of the country around the head of Lake Michigan, from Milwaukee River in Wisconsin to Grand River in Michigan, extending southwest over a large part of northern Illinois, east across Michigan to Lake Erie, and south in Indiana to the Wabash River. Within this territory they had about 50 villages, with at least two of those villages located nearby the current site of Pottawattomie Country Club.
